Took the overnight bus to Bangalore and then drove to Mysore. Wow...what a long bus ride. It was about 8 hours before we arrived at Bangalore and it is only supposed to be a 5 hour trip. I met my driver and we headed out...stopping in the town where they make the wooden toys, along the way. Interestingly, the driver put on American music to keep us company along the way. The first song was "Chiwawa" (sp?), a song that you line dancers know well. This made me smile and headed the trip off to a little better start after many hours of traveling. We also heard "Macarena" along with others.
There were many sights to see in Mysore.
Outside of Bangalore...
Mysore Palace...
People I met at the palace. Many Indians asked me if I would let them take a picture with me...why not?...
You will see this group in many of my pictures. I kept running into them throughout my two day adventure to Mysore and Bangalore...
Headed to Chamundi Hill, place where the demon Mahishasura was slain by the Goddess Chamundi. A statue of the demon is located on Chamundi Hill to commemorate the event...
Some natives of Chamundi Hill...
Below is the bull which Shiva rides and the gate keeper of Shiva and Parvati in Hindu mythology...
A rice field...
My driver with baby goats born only a few hours before this picture was taken...
Cauvery Neeravari Nigama, a local favorite for the locals to swin, bathe, and relax...
In a tobay (I think that is what it is called)...
Brindavan Gardens...
It started to cool off and I had a nice, relaxing time at the gardens...
I meet this group of Indian tourists again...
More people I met...
The musical fountain performance at night...
And so the first day of my two day adventure to Mysore and Bangalore comes to an end. Stay tuned for Day #2...
