Hello from India!
After traveling about another 9 hours, I have finally arrived in Chennai, India. I think I slept about an hour on this flight and again watched many movies...Avatar being one of them...yeah for long movies on flights...they make the flight time pass by quicker! I am not a big fan of tv and movies, but can't imagine this much flying without it. So...I think I have now traveled around 25 hours or so.
Found my mom in the airport...YEAH! Got a "prepaid taxi" and headed for my mom's apartment. My mom lives in Chennai. For those of you who don't know India's geography, Chennai is in the far south of India.
First Impression:
Climate: For those in Florida...the Florida heat is nothing compared to India. It is now after midnight and the temp. is around 92 degrees with the humidity around 75%. My mom told me to pack cool clothing...I don't think they make clothing cool enough for here. Can I just go naked?...LOL :)
What I see: As we leave the airport, I see people resting beside the building. I'm not sure if these individuals are homeless or not. I am reminded of England by the driving...they also drive on the wrong side of the street here...or should I say different side of the street from what we drive on. The vehicles are narrow and there is constant honking. There are street lights, but few other lights are seen. The stores are dark...no security lights in the stores...at least not in this area. As we drive, I am reminded of the movie "Slumdog Millionaire". It takes place many miles from here, but I am still reminded of the movie from some of the images I see.
